Minneapolis, MN – Noor Kids, a Harvard Business School supported social enterprise that publishes Islamic children’s books for Muslim children in North America, was selected to present at the American Muslim Consumer Conference. The American Muslim Consumer Conference is the nation’s largest conference for professionals to learn about the multi-billion dollar American Muslim market. The Minneapolis-based start-up was selected from over 30 entrants to present in this year’s Entrepreneurship Showcase.
Noor Kids has published five consumer-acclaimed books over the last sixteen months and has sold its product in over six countries. “Strong word of mouth among parents and educators has been the reason for our success,” said Mohammed Aaser, co-founder of Noor Kids, “Almost 70% of our new customers are referred to us by a current customers.”
In the challenging environment that exists for Muslims in North America, Noor Kids aspires to build confidence in the religious identity of 4-8 year olds through American integration. The books, that are the first of its type, utilize characters, similar to Dora the Explorer, to achieve its goal.
“Through its innovative educational products, Noor Kids has the potential to grow and serve young Muslims in North America and other underserved Muslim markets,” said Sadiq Shariff, Program Director of the American Muslim Consumer Conference. “The Entrepreneurial Showcase will provide Noor Kids a platform to showcase their business model, products, and services,” continued Shariff. The conference will host representatives from national retailers, such as Wal-Mart.
“We’re gaining momentum,” said Amin Aaser, co-founder of Noor Kids, “We’ve been blessed with strong consumer and institutional advocates that believe in our mission.”
The American Muslim Consumer Conference will be held on November 17, 2012 in Newark, New Jersey. Visit the American Muslim Consumer Conference website (http://www.americanmuslimconsumer.com/) for more details.
