32. Heart and Soul
"And they ask you, [Oh Mohammed], about the sould? Say, 'The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And mankind has not been given of knowledge except alittle'" (17:85).
In this book, we teach that the ruh, or soul, is the essence of the human body, the part that gives the body life. Just as we take care of our bodies, eating healthy and exercising, for example, so too must we take care of our souls
In our first story, "Soul Searching," Amira learns the lesson that our true selves are not our external, physical bodies, but rather our internal, spiritual selves. And even though our bodies change over time, our soul will still be the same soul until the end of time.
Our second story, "Scrubbing Saturday," teaches that with the remembrance of Allah (SWT), we can purify our souls. In the story, Amin discovers that when he does bad things, such as getting angry, he's making his soul dirty, and in order to scrub his soul, he must remember his Lord.
