Tawaaf, Sa'iee, & Mount Hira? “Noor Kids go to Hajj,” is finally here!

Tawaaf, Sa’iee, and Mount Hira… what do they all have in common? They are all up for investigation, in our second book, “Noor Kids go to Hajj!” We’re excited to announce that Noor Kids will be donating $5 towards Qurbani (food for the poor) for all subscriptions, between Wednesday, November 2nd and Eid al-Adha!

In building compelling children’s books, iteration is key. This time around was no different. Simplifying complex ideas, like Tawaaf and Sa’iee, and communicating these elements of Hajj in a way that children can relate to, was our primary goal in “Noor Kids go to Hajj!” However, this wasn’t our only goal.

The concepts of Hajj were created through the wisdom of Allah (SWT). As such, while the ideas can be simple, the reflections on these acts of worship lead to incredible growth – for children, but also their parents. We developed our stories such that those who reflect on them, young or old, may be able to take away exceptional learnings to apply into our everyday activities.

As we think about our daily lives, what are our daily goals and purpose? Do they center on our friends and playtime? Or maybe work? However, as we walk around the Holy Kaaba, Allah (SWT) forces us to create a convincing message, one in which his worship is the center of our world and purpose for existence.  Asad, one of the four main characters in Noor Kids, is able to master this complex idea through the simple metaphor of the solar system in “Noor Kids go to Hajj!”

We’re able to add some additional flavor to the book as we partnered with acclaimed Muslim Chef and Writer, Yvonne Maffei from MyHalalKitchen.com. Yvonne provides a healthy, simple, and delicious recipe for children while reflecting on the blessings of Allah (SWT). She also provides some insights into her childhood and how she became the success that she is today! (Although you won’t ever find her admitting that :-p)

Insha’llah, we’re hopeful that you will enjoy our second book. It represents an aspiration towards our goal of successfully engaging Muslim children in North America to build confidence in religious identity. We seek to engage children with Islamic education and American integration. It is with Allah’s blessings that we are able to create and share this resource with you. Through God's graces, Noor Kids has come along way since our initial launch last July. We’ve entered into over 1,000 children’s households across 5 different countries and 3 continents!

However, in order for Noor Kids to be sustainable for the long term, we still have a long way to go. Insha’llah if each of us can play our own role, we can brighten the lives of little Muslims all around North American and beyond. Please take a moment to:

1.  Share Noor Kids with your friends on Facebook

2.  Recommend friends who might be interested in Noor Kids to subscribe!

3. Keep us in your prayers :-)!

If you have any questions or would like to get in contact with Noor Kids, feel free to send me a note at amin@noorkids.com! We're excited about our second book. Insha'llah once you receive it, let us know what you think!

Jazakallah Khair,

Amin
